Not a pinned field on a map. What we're looking for, why here, and what we'll do with it.
The search, in brief
We're looking for somewhere between 12.5 and 20 acres, maybe a little more. We're open to a mix of buying and renting, and it doesn't need to come as one single plot; a few fields pieced together works just as well, if not better, than holding out for one perfect block.
South-facing is a preference, and we're comfortable with some uneven ground. We're not looking for something flat and manicured. Beyond that, we're primarily searching across Somerset, and it's not just about what the land itself needs to offer.
We love it here. The food culture, the community, the other producers already doing this kind of work nearby, people who genuinely value a slower, more sustainable way of living. There's enough tourism to keep things lively without it feeling crowded, the ocean isn't far, Wales is close, and it sits right at the gateway to the southwest. It's a place we'd be glad to build a life around, not just a piece of land.

Our plans for the land
We're not going to do everything at once. Once we have land, we'll build it out slowly, adding what makes sense as we're ready for it, rather than taking on more than we can properly manage from day one.
Permaculture principles sit underneath all of it. We're not here to take from the land. We want to work in balance with it, giving back as much as we take. That means regenerative methods, organic growing, and no chemicals, from the very start.
